English 201 – 080 16 February 2014 Restricted Freedom In the 19th century, women born in the United States have been denied many opportunities and rights that were strictly reserved for men. Women were expected to be timid; they were not allowed to speak for themselves or to act on their own impulses. Women should not have to demand liberty because this is a human right. A woman should have the right to do as they please without a male opinion overpowering her own voice. In the short story â€Å"The Yellow Wallpaper† written by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Gilman captures the heights of emotions for a wife in an oppressive marriage. Many marriages in the late 19th century were similar to the one in this story, a tyrannically imposed†¦show more content†¦Although all women were effected by men determining women’s behavior, largely middle class women suffered. Men perpetrated an ideological prison that subjected and silenced women.† This was the pressing issue for the female role in both Cho pin and Gilman. Mrs. Mallard and the woman mentally troubled were both feeling trapped in a marriage due to masculine oppression. Many women felt trapped in their marriage, as if they were equivalent to prisoners being mentally confined. Women should not submit to a male’s authority, this would be betraying her own identity and individuality. A woman cannot truly be an individual if she is always submitting to her partner. There must be compromises met that determine the outcome rather than one voice subjugating the other. Women should not have to demand equality in a marriage. It should be given- without questioning. In â€Å"The Story of an Hour† Mrs. Mallard felt trapped in a marriage without any freedom to live her life according to her own terms. Men were limiting a woman’s subjectivity by imposing their opinions on how a wife should act. The social dynamics called in the setting and time period were questionable to say the least. Similarly, in â€Å"The Yellow Wallpaper† the wife had no identity because she was constantly yielding to a superior force- her husband. Lesson 9 exercise 1: The information that should be obtained from the patient at the time of scheduling the appointment is the reason for the visit, name, DOB, phone number, and insurance information. It is important for the medical assistant to verify whether the office is a preferred provider with the patient’s insurance at the time the appointment is scheduled to alleviate any confusion or misunderstanding, and so the patient can make the choice to find another provider that accepts their insurance. The policy states that if a patient has a copay or any other payment that needs to be made then he/she should do so at the time of their visit. This is usually done at the end of the visit encase the doctor orders any tests or lab work that might cost the patient more money. Patient’s should be informed of all or any charges and given an estimated cost. Kristin was correct in stating that Mountain View Clinic was not a participating provider for Shaunti’s insurance plan. This was the family was aware of needing to pay for the visit and with the estimate that Kristin offered they had an idea of how much the appointment was going to cost prior to seeing the doctor. Assessing the effects of the inactive ingredients to the effectiveness of any drug occurs after marketing. Drug-Drug interactions, long-term side effects, which appear after using any drug for a long time, and many side effects cannot be detected before the wide distribution of the drug among divers and huge rang of people. In addition, because some inactive ingredients have specific effects on a group of people but not everyone like immunocompromised patients, the effects of the inactive ingredients can be monitored much better after marketing. ((FDA), 2009)Post-Marketing Studies: The FDA may ask the pharmaceutical companies to provide more clinical trials after marketing, to evaluate a known side effect, or to identify any potential risks. In addition, pharmaceutical companies are required to provide studies to assess the consumption of the drug, the quantity or the rout of administration, for example, they need to observe the dynamics that affect the known risks, such as drug dose and time of treatment. They need also to provide sufficient information and numbers about the drug effects on pregnancy and fetus.
